Holiday Party and 2019 Events

Dear New Downtown Dems,
On behalf of the Club's Executive Committee, you are cordially invited to the 2018 New Downtown Dems Holiday Party, to be held Sunday December 16, 2018, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., at Trading Post (170 John Street).  It will be a fun event and we look forward to seeing each of you there -- and PLEASE BRING A FRIEND TO HELP OUR CLUB GROW!

We are also looking forward to several events we're planning in 2019, as our Club grows and becomes more active.  What we're planning includes:

January 2019NYC Public Advocate Candidate Forum:  New Downtown Dems will co-sponsor (or host on our own) a forum for candidates for the upcoming Special Election for NYC Public Advocate.

March 2019It's Women's History Month!  New Downtown Dems is planning a forum to look at how we get more women candidates on the ballot and into elected offices.

May / June 2019Youth Voter Information and Registration Drive:  New Downtown Dems volunteers will set up tables at local high schools to give information to soon-to-be-voters about how to register and how to vote while away at college.
We'll also look to register those students who've reached voting age.  This is part of the core mission of our Club -- to help educate and increase voter registration and turnout.

We also still plan to hold a town-hall style listening forum and formal Club meeting in the beginning of 2019.  More details to follow.

We look forward to seeing each of you on December 16th!

Our October Voting 101 Event

On October 29th, we held our first Voting 101 informational session with Democracy4BPC and Downtown Independent Democrats. This informational session informed voters of meaning and implications of the three proposals on this year's ballot.

We believe that informed voters are the crux of a functioning democracy and are essential in making progressive changes to our community.

Thank you to Democracy4BPC, Downtown Independent Democrats, Assemblymember Deborah Glick, and all of our attendees.

Keep an eye out for future events!
